Good planning leads to minimum disruption
Client: The owner

Since the clients have a young family it was important that works were completed as quickly as possible with minimum disruption to their household. Purkelly succeeded in both of these.

Pembridge Villas, Notting Hill

This property is an elegant and substantial 3 storey stucco faced building in Notting Hill which was suffering the effects of subsidence caused by adjacent trees.

We won the contract drawn up by the owners engineer in competition with other contractors to partially underpin the house and subsequently repair the superstructure.

As the owners remained in their property throughout the works it was essential that the works were planned in consideration of their daily needs and the site left tidy in the evenings and at weekends. They were even able to host a family christening at the height of the work on the superstructure.

The underpinning was straightforward and involved the front and part of the right hand wall of the house.

During repairs to the stucco we found that arches had failed which required the installation of precast lintels and rebuilding adjacent brickwork. There was severe deflection of the floors at the front of the house which needed levelling. These works, along with other less complicated repairs, were completed in as short a timeframe as possible to allow family life to return to normal.
